‘A man Beyond Comprehension’

Essaid Elkhiz He has several novelistic works, including: (Nostalgia of Love and Destruction) 2015, and ( Picking
Embers ) 2018, and ( Son of Clay )2020, which received the Al-Tayeb Salih Award for Novelistic Creativity. He also
experienced managing and editing the magazine ( Cultural Papers ) in the city of Taroudant.


Essaid Elkhiz is considered a researcher in narrative semiotics, coming from cognitive academic
backgrounds concerned with the production of meaning in the novelistic discourse; for he is the holder of
a PhD degree in semiotics of the novelistic discourse, working on translating studies concerned with art,
cinema, and visual media.















He was able to progress in preliminary drafts for several chapters, alongside restructuring the narrative
structure of his novel under residency at TawsnaLab laboratory ( A man Beyond Comprehension ) which is
a novel project that attempts to delve into the lives of the developmentally different, those who do not
understand themselves nor are they understood by those who lack an educational or medical awareness,
and that from narrative representational angles that champion the excluded and the special, and delve into
the depths of problematic characters.
Also, discussion sessions, editing writing styles, and exchanging opinions, with the permanent residents from the
laboratory members and other visiting guests, will help the intertwining of the novel project with intersecting
projects that may transition from the act of contemplation and writing to legal action which monitors the
infringement of rights of this group of individuals, who suffer inside a society that has not yet established habits
of respecting hidden disabilities. It also helps to enrich the artistic and stylistic aspect for the writer. And the goal
remains the restoration of intimacy with the act of writing and entering into discussion about the problematics
related to the characteristics of novelistic and narrative writing today in the geographies of the Global South.
